Toy beads may contain date-rape drug

TOYSHOPS yesterday cleared the shelves of Chinese-made children’s beads that could contain the date-rape drug GHB and even lead to death.

The alert is the latest scare to hit Chinese-made toys following repeated problems over lead contamination and other safety issues.

In the latest safety scare, three children in Australia were hospitalised after swallowing Bindeez beads, which were found to contain a chemical called 1,4 Butanediol.
