Ahern admits €38,000 pay rise has cost him support

TAOISEACH Bertie Ahern has admitted the €38,000 pay increase he approved for himself has cost him public support.

An opinion poll published yesterday showed support for Fianna Fáil had declined dramatically since the general election, falling 9% to 33%.

In addition, the Taoiseach’s personal satisfaction ratings fell 15 points to 43%.
