He is the fourth person to be arrested in connection with the murder.

An 81-year-old man and a woman in her 70s and a man aged 20 have already been held by gardaí in connection with the crime.

They were released without charge.

Mr Grant, 25, died from a single bullet wound to the upper body.

He was shot moments after he left his home in St Ita’s Street, St Mary’s Park, where he lived with his partner, Claire, and their three young children, Rebecca, Gareth and Taylor.

Two armed detectives, who were on patrol in St Ita’s Street at the time of the shooting, tried to revive Mr Grant at the scene with medical equipment they had in their unmarked car.

While the murder is not connected to the ongoing feud which involves one gang from St Mary’s Park, the main suspect is connected to a feud gang.

Superintendent John Kerin, who is heading the murder investigation, said they are satisfied who was involved in the murder and were in the process of gathering evidence to bring a charge.

A semi-automatic handgun used in the murder was found in St Mary’s Park the day after the shooting in follow up searches.

A bag containing bullets was also found.

The youth arrested yesterday was brought to Mayorstone Garda Station for questioning.
