Drink driver arrested twice in an hour
The second episode of drink driving was detected at Poulavone, near Ballincollig, Co Cork, less than an hour after his release from Bridewell Garda Station. He managed to drive the car — despite the fact that the guards had confiscated his keys at the station.
The driver, Wojciech Mroczkowski, aged 26, from Poland and with an address at Barrack Street, Cork, had a second set of car keys at home which he retrieved as soon as he got out of Bridewell. He then drove the car towards Ballincollig.
That was about 3.30am on October 29, 2006, and there was a Garda checkpoint on the road.
Judge David Riordan imposed a €600 fine on the defendant on the first count of drink driving and he ordered him to do 120 hours of community service instead of three months in prison on the second charge. As well as the fine and community service order, Mroczkowski was banned from driving for a year.
