BERTIE AHERN was truly unbelievable in the Dáil yesterday.

Everyone said so. Enda Kenny said so, Eamon Gilmore kept saying so and Fianna Fáil TDs — perhaps putting as positive a spin on the word as they could — clearly thought so, judging by the enthusiastic applause they gave him.

The Greens just looked unbelievably uncomfortable as they saved energy by refusing to join in the clapping for the head of their Government coalition.
