Dolores’s hubby has winning touch too

WHEN your wife is worth more than €115 million, €6,200 prize money may be peanuts — but Adrian McNamara was like the cat that got the cream last night.

His seven-year-old mare, Carraig na gCapall, won the Tim Kelly Electrical Maiden Hurdle at Ballinrobe. Adrian is husband to Limerick’s EuroMillions winner Dolores McNamara.

Ciaran O’Brien was approached by Mr McNamara last year to keep a look-out for a potential national hunt horse and since he bought Carraig na gCapall, he has been present at meetings every time the horse has run.

The six-year-old mare is trained by Mr O’Brien at Clonlara outside Limerick city and while this is her eighth run, this is her first win.

She won a point-to-point last year at Templemore and has had a number of very promising runs at Listowel and Limerick over the past two months. The horse is a daughter of Carroll House, which won the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe.

Dolores did not travel to Ballinrobe last night from her €1.7m mansion, Lough Derg Hall, which overlooks the Clare lakeside town of Killaloe.
