As part of a major fundraising campaign, the Kinsale Gaelscoil Founding Committee (KGFC) is selling unique pictures of the red-shirted heroes, which were taken by internationally acclaimed photographer Giles Norman.

Munster locks Donnacha O’Callaghan and Mick O’Driscoll will attend the launch of the picture fundraiser in Kinsale next Thursday and will also be on hand to watch the sod being turned for the school project.

KGFC spokesman Ciarán Coughlan said it was hoped to raise several thousand euro from the fundraiser.

“We approached Giles Norman and asked if he would be interested in taking some pictures for us and he duly obliged. We also approached the Munster branch (of the IRFU) and they agreed to our fundraiser in return for donating some of the proceeds to the injured players’ trust,” Mr Coughlan said.

The photographs will be unveiled in Giles Norman’s gallery at 6.30pm.

There will be 25 copes each of five pictures and these cost between €450 and €750.

KGFC has been working for more than a year to start a gaelscoil in the town. It intends to have its building project completed by next September.
