Parents warned following sinister approach to teenager

The incident which came to light yesterday occurred on June 19 in the car park of the Crescent Shopping Centre in Dooradoyle.

Garda Esther Stokes of the crime prevention unit in Henry Street said: “At around 11.40am on that date, in the car park of the shopping centre a lady was returning her shopping trolley to a trolley bay when a male in what is described as a dark navy two seater van, with tools in the back of it pulled up. He approached the woman’s 15-year-old niece and asked her to sit into the van and to show him where McDonald’s fast food outlet was. This happened even though he was in fact parked outside McDonald’s at the time. Fortunately when the male driver saw the girl’s aunt approach, he drove off.”
