It has also been found that women who experience migraine while pregnant are significantly more likely to suffer a stroke, heart attack or other vascular problems during their pregnancy.

Chief Executive of the Migraine Association of Ireland Peter Murphy said the studies from the United States challenge commonly held perceptions of migraine as a completely benign disorder.
