Politicians ‘need to live in real world’
John Fitzgerald claimed: “Some of those in the political system, and at national government policy level, would want to get real in terms of how they play their part in the whole process.
He stated: “If I had my way, especially in the area of social deprivation, which unfortunately in post Celtic Ireland is still with us, I would put all those involved in policy directives on social exclusion and social inclusion on a bus and drive them into areas that are seriously socially deprived and show them what life is really like in some of these places. I am convinced that a lot of them do not realise or do not know.”
