Sports fans urged to rise to the 10 Task Challenge

The weekend event to raise more than €100,000 for the Dublin hospital takes place in September in Avon Ri, Blessington, Co Wicklow in September.

The hospital’s fund raising manager, Conor Byrne, said each participant only had to raise €750 to take part.

Mr Byrne said the hospital wanted to make it as easy as possible for people to join up and only wished they could organise the weather as well.

The hospital hopes to have 30 six-person teams completing 10 different tasks over three days.

All of the teams will share a cottage in the resort where the activities are taking place. Breakfast supplies will be left in the cottages and a light lunch and dinner will be provided each day.

Hour-long events being planned include biking, hiking, canoeing, sailing, football, archery and clay shooting.

The hospital has even set a page on www.mycharity.ie to help people raise funds for the event. All participants have to do is long onto the website and set up their own fundraising page.

The charity challenge starts on Friday, September 21, and will finish the following Sunday afternoon when the presentation of prizes takes place.

Those wanting to sign-up their team for the 10 Task Challenge can email tentasks@thenationalchildrenshospital.ie or call 01-4142375.
