AN IRISHMAN, living in Manchester for the past two years, has written to the environment minister Dick Roche asking why he can’t get a postal vote — like members of the Defence Forces and government officials working abroad.

Denis Garvey, originally from Togher, Cork, contacted the department to find out how he could register for a postal vote only to be informed of his ineligibility.

He stated: “I was disappointed to find that I was not eligible for such a vote.”
