Man due to be quizzed in hospital after killing
Hadim Kedik, aged 32, remained in Cork University Hospital (CUH) for a fourth night last night recovering from apparently self-inflicted injuries to his wrists and neck.
He was rushed to CUH last Thursday after he was discovered unconscious in his flat above the For Fir barber shop in Clonakilty at around 11.40am.
The body of his ex-partner, Rosarie (Rose) Patterson, aged 30, with whom he had a child, was found nearby in a pool of blood.
A post mortem examination confirmed she died a violent death, possibly as early as 2am or 3am on Thursday, from what are believed to have been multiple stab wounds. Their two-year-old boy, Ferhan, was in the flat at the time.
Ms Patterson’s body had not been released to her family last night and funeral arrangements have yet to be finalised.
Prayers were said at masses in the quiet West Cork town yesterday for her, and for her three children, Naomi, aged eight, Veronica, aged five, and Ferhan, who face an uncertain future.
The two girls were being cared for by close family friend and neighbour Karen McCarthy. Ferhan was being cared for by For Fir owner, Justin Crowley.
The three children were reunited briefly on Friday evening with their grandmother and Rose’s mother Ann, who has been released from Bantry hospital.
Social workers met with friends and family members over the weekend to discuss their long-term care. Friends hope all three can stay together.
