Irish reaction: politicians urge end to talking

THE latest UN report on global climate change was yesterday described as a stark wake-up call for politicians in this country.

Both the Greens and the Labour Party described as shocking the findings of the international panel which forecast further temperature rises, extensive flooding, and the extinction of almost 40 species.

The Greens environment spokesman Ciarán Cuffe said: “The time for talking is over; it’s now time to act. There is a real danger that if we pass a ‘tipping point’, temperature rises will escalate.”
