All bets are off as raids reveal prisoners’ mobiles

GAMBLING-mad criminals at Limerick prison have had their Cheltenham arrangements for next week’s big national hunt meeting thrown into chaos.

Many prisoners have accounts with outside bookmakers which they operate with the help of mobile phones, which are illegal behind bars.

A series of raids by prison officers in recent days led to a record seizure of 26 mobiles.
