MOVES by ministers to boost the Government’s green credentials were branded “inadequate” by opponents last night.

Marine and Natural Resources Minister Noel Dempsey insisted commitments to increase energy efficiency in new developments by nearly half would make the Republic a leader in Europe.

However, two months before a general election, the confirmation that one-third of all Irish electricity will be generated from renewable sources by 2020 was dismissed as “too little, too late” by the Green Party.
