THE Government plans to eliminate poverty within 10 years under a new action plan launched yesterday.

The social inclusion blueprint sets ambitious goals and targets to be achieved by 2016. It vows to reduce numbers in consistent poverty to 2% by 2012 and eliminate it completely by 2016.

The National Action Plan for Social Inclusion — Building an Inclusive Society was launched by the Taoiseach, the Tánaiste and Social and Family Affairs Minister Seamus Brennan.
