THE Irish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children has labelled the garda failure to act on Interpol’s warning an “absolute sham”.

The ISPCC and other groups hit out after Austria revealed 2,300 suspects in 77 countries worldwide are under investigation. Gardaí were told about two Irish suspects last August.

The ISPCC deemed it an “absolute sham” and said Interpol alerts must now be prioritised.
