Kenny promises ‘on-time-every-time’ medical treatment as he rallies troops

He promised that, if returned to power in the summer election, every person who needed medical treatment would receive it “on time, every time”.

Kicking off his party’s election campaign with a “rally” in Cork, Mr Kenny touched on all the issues likely to dominate political debate in the run-up to polling day. Crime, immigration and Government spending overruns were among the areas covered. But Mr Kenny reserved his strongest remarks for the issue of public services such as the health system. Addressing an audience of approximately 600 people, he said the country boasted a first-class economy but not first-class public services.
