€55bn bid to get infrastructure on track

THE Government has admitted that transport, energy and communications infrastructure is still far behind what it should be and that “high levels of investment” would be necessary to address these deficits.

As a result, almost €55 billion will be spent on economic infrastructure such as roads and energy networks under the NDP.

However, many elements of yesterday’s package, such as the Transport 21 initiative, had already been announced in recent months.
