Opposition hits out at ‘€184bn gimmick’

OPPOSITION leaders last night branded the €184 billion initiative an election gimmick which would end up costing voters dear.

Fine Gael’s finance spokesman Richard Bruton warned every household would fork out €120,000 for the programme over the next seven years with no guarantee of value for money.

Labour described the launch of the plan as a throwback to Communist Eastern Europe and dismissed it as the “longest election leaflet in history”.
