Limerick Live 95 FM fights off licence bid

UTV owners of Limerick Live 95 FM have successfully fought off a bid by a new Limerick consortium to acquire the licence the station held for 10 years.

The Broadcasting Commission of Ireland renewed Live 95FM’s licence which was due to expire next November. UTV took over the station in June 2002 when the broadcaster bought out a group of investors for €16 million.

Since then the station has grown its listenership from 33% to 51% of the Limerick radio market.
