Drumm does not rule out concessions to consultants

THE head of the Health Service Executive (HSE) has not ruled out further concessions in the long-running dispute with consultants about the amount of private work they carry out in public hospitals.

Professor Brendan Drumm said progress in talks with consultants has been disappointing but he believes most of them want to get involved in a programme of change.

“We have got to get to a situation where the balance between public and private patients is equal, in terms of access to the system.
