A CAMPAIGN to find homes for stray dogs has been launched in Limerick.

More than 2,200 strays picked up by wardens in Limerick city and county last year had to be destroyed.

Councillor Eddie Creigh-ton, chairman of Limerick County Council, called for more people to come forward to offer homes for strays when he opened a new €140,000 dog shelter in Mungret.
