Witnesses to fatal single-car crash are sought

GARDAÍ are appealing for witnesses to a crash which led to the death of a 79-year-old motorist yesterday afternoon.

The elderly man was driving on the main Mallow-Killarney road [N72], at the eastern side of Rathmore, when he appeared to lose control of his Opel Vectra which veered off the road into a field.

Emergency services were quickly on the scene and an ambulance crew rushed the man to Cork University Hospital.
