TALKS are due to take place in Limerick today between SIPTU and Health Service Executive (HSE) management to try and avert a kitchen crisis at the Mid-Western Regional Hospital.

Ten chefs employed by the HSE walked off the job, last Friday, forcing hospital management to step in and prepare lunch for 400 patients and 500 staff.

The walkout was sparked by a demand by one female chef, who is job sharing, to return to a 39-hour regular week.
