FARMERS warned yesterday that the prices they are paid for their products must go up to reflect their increasing costs.

IFA president Pádraig Walshe said the 20-yearcycle of falling farm product prices and zero price increases was over.

He said that in the past decade, general price inflation in Ireland totalled 40%. In the same period, food prices in supermarkets rose by almost 30%.
