A NATIONAL campaign was launched yesterday in a bid to increase awareness of bowel cancer, which is the second-biggest cause of cancer death in Ireland.

The All-Ireland Bowel Cancer Awareness Campaign was launched in Dublin yesterday, with medical professionals warning that one-in-three Irish adults were unaware of bowel cancer risk factors.

Bowel cancer is one of the most common forms of cancer in Ireland, with 2,700 people diagnosed with the disease each year. Some 1,500 people die annually from bowel cancer.
