SINN FÉIN may today name the date for its special Árd Fheis on policing, despite the failure of the DUP to respond positively to the initiative.

Sinn Féin’s officer board meets in Dublin early this afternoon and it is widely anticipated, though not confirmed by party leader Gerry Adams, that it will announce that its Árd Fheis will be held in the last week of January.

However, it will come amid some concerns from both governments about “discordant” voices within the DUP, who oppose any power-sharing with Sinn Féin.
