CUSTOMERS of Permanent TSB were last night warned against falling victim to a fraudulent website which copies the one set up by their bank.

Over the weekend, fraudsters deluged Ireland with sophisticated e-mails purporting to be from the bank, telling customers their accounts had been suspended because of a security lapse.

Anyone opening the e-mail is asked to click on a link to a secure website but they are directed to an exact copy of the bank’s Open 24 website — complete with official warnings about bogus security e-mails.
