Controversy over leadership row is finished, says Fine Gael

FINE GAEL leader Enda Kenny’s stern letter to Mr John Deasy last Friday drew a line on the damaging controversy over the party’s leadership, senior sources said yesterday.

The matter was now over, they said, notwithstanding continued extensive coverage in yesterday’s Sunday newspapers. Mr Deasy, for his part, was not available for comment yesterday.

While the contents of the letter have not been publicly disclosed — either by the party or by Mr Deasy — it rebukes the Waterford TD for making such damaging comments, only months before an election.
