FINE Gael leader Enda Kenny attempted to lay down the law last night and restore order to his party after two days of damaging debate about his leadership.

In a strongly worded statement, he rebuked Waterford TD John Deasy, who had ignited the controversy on Wednesday by saying in a local radio interview that Mr Kenny should resign if Fine Gael lost this summer’s General Election.

Mr Kenny also made clear he expected no further dissent from other party members.
