Eircom cuts costs to mobiles, but weekend calls to 02 rise 21.4%

PHONE giant Eircom is to slash the cost of calling mobiles from landlines by up to 10% next week — but with a sting in the tail.

The price of calling Vodafone, O2 and Meteor mobiles is falling between 2.1% and 9% during weekdays and evenings from next Monday.

But Eircom callers ringing O2 at the weekend face a 21.4% rise from 11.61 cents a minute to 14.1c — although calls at the same time to Vodafone are dropping by 10.5% and Meteor by 4.7%.
