SHOPPERS could soon be paying an extra 20c for a loaf of bread as costs rocket at Ireland’s bakeries.

Bakers are blaming the price rise on a 25% hike in the cost of flour owing to poor harvests in Australia, North America and Europe.

Higher labour costs in Ireland as well as the 30% rise in the cost of gas is also adding to the price increase.
