BULLYING is as big a problem in the staffroom as in the classroom for two-thirds of the country’s teachers, research has found.

Four-out-of-10 teachers are bullied

The Irish National Teachers Organisation (INTO) has reported that 44% (four-out-of-10) of its almost 1,200 members have been bullied or harrassed in the classroom.

But for almost seven-out-of-10, bullying is something they witness or are victims of on a regular basis while at school. According to 37% of teachers, there was a lot of workplace bullying, while a further 31% described bullying in their schools as fairly serious and widespread.
