Revenue recoup €1.3m in unpaid tax from motor industry

THE Revenue Commissioners have clawed back more than €1.3 million after an investigation into tax evasion in the motor trade.

Tax officials trawled through the books of mainly car sales and maintenance groups, after contacting more than 1,000 businesses.

Up to 19 areas of concern were flagged by investigating Revenue officers and millions of euro more in undeclared taxes and penalties are expected to be recouped, once final settlements are made.
