Man 65, may be charged over girl 13

A DECISION on whether the 65-year-old man who fathered a child with a 13-year-old girl will face charges is due within weeks, according to gardaí in Enniscorthy, Co Wexford.

The 13-year-old girl from Enniscorthy town gave birth in Wexford General Hospital last May as the result of a pregnancy that shocked the town.

Following DNA tests, a 65-year-old pensioner friend of the family was arrested and interviewed by Enniscorthy gardaí. He was later released pending further investigations.
