Gardaí make fresh murder appeal

GARDAÍ have issued a fresh appeal for information on the tenth anniversary of the murder of a prostitute in Dublin’s city centre.

Gardaí make fresh murder appeal

Belinda Pereira’s body was found on December 29, 1996, just days after she flew in from England to work in the sex trade in Dublin.

The discovery of her body in an apartment on Liffey Street sparked a major hunt for her killer.

The 26-year-old woman had been bludgeoned to death with a blunt instrument.

Gardaí in Store Street Station have launched a new campaign for assistance and are hoping the recent publicity surrounding the murders of prostitutes in Ipswich in England may assist them.

Superintendent Ray Barry of Store Street Station said: “We are hoping that with the passage of time and the notoriety surrounding the Ipswich murders that it may jog someone’s memory.”
