€400m riverside campus heart of development plan

A €400 million riverside campus development will be unveiled by National University of Ireland Galway today.

College officials are to seek planning permission for 15 large-scale building projects on its 260 acres, as part of a re-orientation of the campus to face the River Corrib.

The flagship projects of the Campus of the Future include a €50m 14,000 square metre engineering building, which will accommodate five engineering departments. It is scheduled to open in 2009 and will be the largest single capital project in NUIG’s history.
