A NEW whiskey launched on the Irish market has left a sour taste in the mouths of some public representatives.

The launch of Michael Collins Irish Whiskey, which features a picture of the War of Independence hero and a copy of his signature on the 1921 Treaty, has been condemned by some Fine Gael councillors in his native county.

The brand was officially launched in Cork on Wednesday night and within hours it was criticised by local Fine Gael councillors.
