Fake condoms, botox and steroids seized

SKIN-LIGHTENING products, impotence cures and almost two million fake condoms were among items seized by the Irish Medicines Board (IMB) in a record year for breaches of the laws regulating medical goods.

Large quantities of steroids bought over the internet were also intercepted by the IMB’s enforcement section in its ongoing crackdown on unlicensed products and unauthorised suppliers.

The enforcement team initiated a total of 561 cases against suppliers last year — a massive 79% increase on 2004.
