Dolores ploughs her Lotto cash into farming
The mother of six has gone into farming and forked out part of her €115 million winnings to gear up for a new enterprise on the land.
It’s not known if Dolores, 48, aims to become Queen of the Plough.
But a tractor and other heavy pieces of machinery were delivered to her home near Killaloe earlier this week.
One local said: “The machinery was brought there from a machinery firm in Co Tipperary. We believe the tractor alone cost around €90,000.”
Earlier this year, Dolores moved into her new home, Lough Derg Hall — a €1.7m mansion overlooking Lough Derg.
Dolores, who is regularly seen out walking the land in a pair of wellies, has drawn up a strategy to farm the 40 acres on which the house stands.
Fachtna O’Driscoll, who heads the agriculture advisory agency Teagasc in Limerick, said they would be delighted to give Dolores all the advice she needs to become a successful farmer.
Last July, Dolores tried to buy a further 65 acres at Killestry on the Limerick side of Killaloe, but withdrew at the auction when she learned a number of locals were interested in the land.
