Curtin quit ‘before evidence emerged’

JUDGE Brian Curtinresigned because the Oireachtas committee would have been examining evidence “hour by hour”, its chairman said yesterday.

Fianna Fáil TD Denis O’Donovan said on RTÉ’s A Week in Politics that committee members had not seen any of the evidence gathered by computer experts but this would have emerged last week when full hearings were due to begin.

Mr O’Donovan said if the committee had been in a position to continue its work, the Oireachtas would have voted decisively on whether to impeach the judge or not.
