THE Government will introduce legislation to deal with assisted human reproduction, Tánaiste Michael McDowell said yesterday, but he warned that it would prove divisive.

“Many people will be dissatisfied with the outcome of whatever legislation is put in place,” Mr McDowell told the Dáil.

He was speaking in the wake of Wednesday’s High Court ruling which found that embryos not yet implanted in the womb did not enjoy the constitutional protection of the unborn.
