LIMERICK City Council is understood to have lost more than €100,000 in traffic fines revenue due to industrial action by the city’s nine traffic wardens.

The wardens have been refusing to operate new handheld computerised ticket issuing machines for more than three weeks.

The new system was introduced in 2005 and each of the new hand-held units costs €3,000.
