A PUBLIC tribunal of enquiry was mooted yesterday to resolve the stand-off over the controversial Corrib gas project.

The gas, discovered 70 miles off the Mayo coast 10 years ago, still lies under the seabed.

Despite attempts on all sides to spearhead the removal of the three-trillion tonnes of gas, the project has been stalled in recent years amid local objections and legal wranglings.
