PARENTS are paying unjust taxes by supporting the running costs of primary schools, a teachers’ leader claimed last night.

The Irish National Teachers’ Organisation (INTO) called for a significant hike in the Government’s per-pupil funding paid to primary schools. Spending estimates for 2007 are to be announced next week.

The INTO wants primary school funding to match the amount given to second-level schools.
