KEY elements of the Government’s Road Safety Strategy still aren’t in place just two months before it expires, according to Fine Gael road safety spokesman Sean McEntee.

In an attack on the Government’s safety record, Mr McEntee said vital tools such as a nationwide system of speed cameras, drug tests for drivers and mandatory driving tests still aren’t in place.

“The Road Safety Strategy 2004-2006 was designed to reduce road deaths to fewer than 300 a year,” said Mr McEntee.
