‘Needy should be given SSIA accounts’

‘Needy should be given SSIA accounts’

The Society of St Vincent de Paul (SVP) made the call in its pre-Budget submission, saying a €1 giveaway for every €1 saved by low-income savers would help alleviate poverty.

The measure would mean poorer savers would benefit from Ireland’s recent SSIA bonanza, which saw the Government give savers €1 for every €4 saved over the last five years.
