A DECISION by the Justice Minister refusing to appoint an Assistant Garda Commissioner to be based in Limerick has come under fire from Fine Gael’s Michael Noonan.

Mr Noonan pointed out that the assistant commissioner responsible for Limerick is based in Cork.

He said: “This is too remote when it comes to additional resources or a quick response to a sudden crime crisis in Limerick as we had recently.”
